DANIEL ABRAHAM is one-half of the collaborative team (the other half being Ty Franck) that is bestselling author James S.A. Corey, whose Expanse series is popular both in novels and as realized in the TV series which has now finished production of its fourth season after being recently picked up by Amazon Prime. Daniel will be signing copies of the latest of the Expanse book series (Vol. 8), Tiamat’s Wrath, at the Tattered Cover Pavilion on the show floor of DPCC 2019.
In addition to co-writing of The Expanse series with fellow DPCC guest Ty Franck – Daniel writes under several names, all of them producing highly-successful novels. His M.L.N. Hanover aspect writes the Black 's Daughter series, while under his own name he has published short stories, works in George R.R. Martin's Wild Card series, and the Dagger and the Coin series and the Long Price Quartet.
Daniel started writing early, producing "terrible short stories” but perseverance led to the stories becoming “less terrible.” In 1996 Daniel sold his first story to a semi-prozine. A six-week Clarion West Writer’s Workshop – with an amazing lineup of teachers including George R.R. Martin, Connie Willis and Gardner Dozois – helped him hone his craft, and he was soon publishing steadily.
The Expanse series is noted for a return to believable space opera but hard SF is only one of the genres Abraham embraces, with popular works in epic fantasy, urban fantasy, steampunk, and horror. (His story “Flat Diane” won the 2004 International Horror Guild Award for Intermediate Form.)
Daniel lives in New Mexico with his wife, daughter, and the writer's requisite number of critters.
